September UKEDC Newsletter

Dear Members,

Just a short newsletter this month.

First, the UKEDC Gala Ball is a sell-out.  A-MAZ-ING. Thank you for your support.  If you’ve not managed to get your ticket, you can join the waiting list here. (Click on the orange ‘Tickets’ Button) There will be no tickets available on the door. Roswitha, and her team have pulled together an amazing evening, to which we are all looking forward and which we hope will become an annual event.

Second, we are being asked by members and non-members about the response from the organisations that we asked to consider whether the widely reported and shared lecture at the Blackpool Dance Festival was in line with their rules on equality, diversity and inclusion. Let me assure you this has not been forgotten.  We have sent follow-up letters to the three organisations involved and are waiting to hear back about their investigations.  We will keep you updated.

In committee news, as I mentioned last month, our Treasurer, Gary Lyness, has recently stood down from the committee due to pressure of other commitments. This leaves us with a vacancy on the committee and we would love to hear from anyone who might be interested in getting more involved with the UKEDC. Please get in touch with any committee member to find out more.

Finally, some upcoming events. Don’t forget the Equality Fun Comp on 1 October. And for something a bit different, Out for Sport, of which we are a member, has asked us to pass on news of a Women’s and Non-Binary Sports Day on 17th September. See below for further social and competitive events.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the Gala Ball and hope to see all of you on a dance floor soon.

Best wishes
ANSELL
Chair of UKEDC
