March 2022 Newsletter

Dear UKEDC Members,

First, I would like to introduce to you your committee members, who were voted in at the AGM on 27th February and whose roles were agreed at our committee meeting on 4th March.

They are :

  • Chair: Ansell Chezan
  • Vice-chair: Roswitha Wetschka
  • Secretary: Tom Dane
  • Treasurer: Gary Lyness
  • Communications: Jo Taylor
  • Ordinary committee members – Malcolm Hill and Mariusz Stankiewicz

Again, thanks to Charles Chan for invigilating the election.

It was fantastic to see so many of you at the AGM – around half of our members attended.

Sub-committee update

As discussed at the AGM, the committee will now continue with the work we started last year. So, again, you are interested in joining a sub-committee, then please contact the relevant leader – they are waiting to hear from you.  They are :-

  • Governance: Tom
  • Social development: Malcolm
  • Activities: Roswitha
  • Education: Ansell.

In a future newsletter we will provide a short update on the plans of each sub-committee.

Scholarships and grants

The deadline to apply for a £250 scholarship is 30 April 2022 and full details and the application form are here.  The scholarship is open to members and non-members so please tell anyone who you think might be interested.  All applications will be reviewed by our scholarship approvals panel which comprises Gary, Jo and Mariusz. Awards will be made as soon as we can after the application deadline.

Organisers of social and competitive equality dance events can apply for a grant of up to £250.  Full details are available on the website.

Membership fees are now due

With the new membership year starting from 1 April, membership fees are now due for renewal which you can do through our website. We are always looking to increase membership, so, please tell your friends about us.  We would welcome members from outside London.   After all the UK is a big country.   To help with this some of our sub-committee members come from Oxford, Manchester and Birmingham.

With very best wishes

ANSELL
