July Newsletter

Dear Members,

From the end of June to the start of July, a lot has happened!

The Pink Jukebox Trophy was a huge success, despite train strikes and covid affecting the numbers. It was great to see so many UKEDC members among the medal winners. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Jacky, Ralf and Charles for restarting this event and we’re already looking forward to the next Pink Jukebox Trophy to be held on Saturday 18 February 2023.

At the start of July we had London Pride, and again, UKEDC was there, wearing our new T-shirts and polo-shirts. Thank you to Phil and Tony for organising and to everyone who took part.

Education sub-committee update
I want to share with you over the next few months what our sub-committees are doing, starting with the education sub-committee comprising Mariusz Stankiewicz, Michael Litke, Sue Cooper, and me.
We are working on two projects the results of which we will share with you in due course. The first is a document with advice for equality competitors thinking of competing in mainstream competitions. Michael Hall has shared with us his thoughts and experience as he and his partner George have a lot of experience competing in the mainstream. Thank you, Michael.
The second project is a document for adjudicators that explains some of the differences between equality and mainstream competitions.

Other updates
Please see below for more information on our Anniversary Gala Ball and how to nominate people for awards. Early Bird tickets are only available until the end of July, so book yours now!

You can now order UKEDC T-Shirts & polo-shirts in a vast range of colours – they look great for practicing, social dancing and when teams go abroad to compete such as the Eurogames.

And on that note, I’d like to wish the very best of luck to all our members competing at the Eurogames in Nijmegen at the end of the month.

All the best to you,
ANSELL
Chair of UKEDC
