Dear Members,

I am starting this newsletter in a similar fashion to my July newsletter – what an amazing end to the month!!

Many UKEDC members took part in the Eurogames in Nijmegen with GREAT success. The full list of UK results is here. Including European Championship titles for George Tzoulas and Michael Hall, and for our secretary Tom Dane and his partner Kevin Haycock. Darren Whitby and Vishesh Mehta came away with European Vice-Championship titles, Tori Settle and Chrisi Lyons won a gold medal, Jacky and Mary Logan a silver, and Tess Cleaver and Fiona Brownfoot a bronze. CONGRATULATIONS to everyone.

At the end of this month, we have the Nordic Open – the starters’ list is here.

Moving on to Committee news, our Treasurer, Gary Lyness has stepped down from the Committee due to pressure of other work and to focus on his accountancy exams. I know Gary will remain an active member of UKEDC and I’d like to thank him very much for his contribution to the Committee and wish him every success in his exams.

This means we have a spare seat on the Committee and if you would be interested in finding out more about the Committee, or even joining the Committee, please let me or another Committee Member know.

Only a few tickets are left for our Anniversary Gala Ball . . . SO SECURE YOUR SPACE HERE
Ticket sale ends latest on 17th September, no tickets will be available on the door. If you have missed any of the ads…… It’s Saturday 24th September at The Dilly, Piccadilly, London

Something quite different. I attended a webinar, the other evening, about “Racial Representation in Ballroom”. Why are there less than 1% of dancers of colour, in juvenile, junior and adult ballroom and latin? They are, obviously, having much the same problems as UKEDC members in being accepted.
Their organisation is called TIRED and seems to have a lot of punch and support/backing from many areas.

Finally, if you know of social dances happening in and around the country, please let us know, so that we can add them to the calendar on our website.

See you on the dance floor,
ANSELL
Chair of UKEDC
